Proper calibration of the KVH Fog
A 0.01% rate accuracy and 0 °/s – 2000 °/s rate range is required for proper calibration of the KVH Fog

“Ideal Aerosmith has assisted KVH Industries through the years with minor changes to the 1291BR base model, including table-top configuration, mounting hole patterns, and various slip ring packages to meet the growing needs of our factory throughput,” states Tim Fogle, Lead Manufacturing Test Engineer for KVH Industries. “Ideal Aerosmith’s staff, from sales to engineering to support has been very helpful” Mr. Fogel continues. This has led to continued orders over the past 10 years for all rate tables used in the KVH facility.

KVH Industries, a producer of single and multi-axis fiber optic gyro products, relies on the Ideal Aerosmith 1291BR Precision Rate and Positioning table during the Fog Calibration process. A 0.01% rate accuracy and 0 °/s – 2000 °/s rate range is required for proper calibration of the KVH Fog. The 1291BR offers a straightforward tuning procedure for improved stability when using different table loads. The rate table requires very little maintenance and KVH performs a yearly internal calibration once a year on each unit in the facility. To date, every unit has been well within calibration during the yearly check. KVH Industries products are used primarily by the United States Military for stabilization of weapon systems and cameras as well as navigation and guidance systems. These are precision gyroscopes that require full temperature calibration and verification. 100% of KVH’s products are calibrated before shipping.
