Ideal Aerosmith's Motion Simulation Division is committed to a leadership role in the field of dynamic missile flight motion simulation, target motion simulation and “turn-key” Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) simulation systems.

We design and manufacture:

  • High-dynamic missile flight motion simulators (hydraulic drives)
  • High-dynamic missile flight motion simulators with precision accuracy (electric drives)
  • Target Motion Systems (hydraulic and/or electric drives; linear or curvilinear axes)
  • Missile fin aerodynamic load simulators (electric or hydraulic actuation)
  • High performance hardware-in-the-loop digital motion controllers

The Company strengthened it's flight motion simulation capabilities in January 2005, when Ideal hired all of the former Carco Electronics - Menlo Park division employees and a majority of the Pittsburgh division employees. Ideal Aerosmith is uniquely qualified to design, fabricate, install, and commission hydraulic or electric flight motion systems required for the successful execution of major seeker development and production programs. Ideal has an excellent reputation for designing and manufacturing superior test systems and has demonstrated the dedication to support those systems to meet the highest expectations of our customers.

Ideal Aerosmith’s Flight Motion Simulation Systems include real-time Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) motion control instrumentation, high-dynamic electric and hydraulic flight motion systems along with target motion systems. Our flight and target motion systems are key components throughout the development and testing of infrared, laser, RF guided weapon systems such as missiles and smart munitions.

Ideal Aerosmith electric flight motion simulators are configured with the AERO 4000™ Digital Motion Controller. This controller is Ideal Aerosmith’s flagship controller and an essential component of the larger Ideal Aerosmith motion simulation systems. Our AERO 4000™ Controller is built upon commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and software platforms to minimize cost and delivery schedules, as well as to provide customers with a product that does not lock them into proprietary technology and single-source part vendors.  MORE

Target Motion Systems TMS / HWIL
Ideal Aerosmith specializes in the design and manufacture of high performance Target Motion Systems (TMS) solutions for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) testing of missile seekers (IR, Laser or RF), guided munitions and inertial guidance systems. TMS system solutions may consist of various configurations such as a 2X gimbal (i.e. rotary) system, a linear X-Y system, curvilinear X-Y system or Dual X-Y system. Any of the Ideal Aerosmith TMS systems are compatible with our 3X flight motion simulator systems or a TMS may be installed 3X FMS systems built by the former Carco Electronics™ or Contraves® companies.  MORE
